I held a portrait making workshop at the 6th Vintage Photo Festival in Bydgosztz, Poland.
It was a collaborative workshop with festival staff, visiting artist, festival volunteers and festival guest meeting up with a bunch of old analog cameras and see what we could do, making portraits of each other at night time with only available light.
We had one roll of Ilford HP4 400 ISO black & film each. We shot at ISO 3200, so three stop underexposure/3 stop push development. Home developed with Kodak XTOL.
Most photos are made on Gdanska street near the Hotel Pod Orlem and inside and outside Klub MÓZG. We used no light meters ans shot in manual mode, or with cameras that had no modes but manual. Camera settings were 1/50 and f.4, so all we had to do, was look for the light and focus - and well, have fun making these photos together.
The idea was to do make an event, in which the volunteers could also have a chance to be part of the festival artistically. We were 17 people participating as photographers, “models” and friends. Here I collect and show some of the results.
